Why we have to charge a packing fee with the free shipping?

We do cover the actual shipping costs, however we have extra materials into shipping a piece other than the actual postage. Since we offer solid oak it is very heavy. A simple small bench will weigh approximately 40 pounds therefore it tends to get thrown around during shipping and we must protect it more than the average package.

We line all boxes with 4 ply edge guard. We wrap the piece completely in bubble wrap. All tops have a thick foam that covers them for extra protection. Bubble wrap is used to protect extra hollow space. Not to mention we can't get our boxes from outside the back of the grocery store so we invest in the boxes. All these charges drive up the cost of your piece.

We considered doing a price increase to cover the extra cost but felt it would be better to add the packaging fees. We know you will understand getting your piece to you with no damage is far more important.
